A two-day training programme on “bamboo development as a resource and enterprise for sustainable livelihood” for Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) functionaries was organised by State Agricultural Management and Extension Training Institute (SAMETI) on March 22-23 at SAMETI, Medziphema.
A press release by SAMETI, Medziphema informed that during the training, the participants were trained on the topic of bamboo development as resource and bamboo development as enterprise by team member Nagaland Bamboo Development Agency (NBDA), Er. M. Imkonglemba and founder and proprietor – The Naga Feather (tNF), Ruovilhoukho Chuzho.
Practical demonstration on preparation of charcoal, bamboo nursery techniques and its management, propagation techniques of bamboo, bamboo processing and treatment and preparation of handicrafts and home utilities were given to the participants. The participants were also taken for a field visit to Bamboo Emporium and Nagaland Bamboo Resource Centre, 6th Mile Sovima. The valedictory programme was chaired by deputy project director, SAMETI, Yezaho Swu; certificates were distributed to the trainees by director SAMETI and principal IETC, Dr. Watimongla Jamir, and DPD SAMETI, Janet Chishi delivered the vote of thanks while feedback on the training was given by all the participants.
