District Health Society (DHS) Tuensang conducted a three-day district level training on “Dakshata” at District Hospital Tuensang from August 17-19. In a press release, DMO, NHM Tuensang, Apheang informed that resource persons for the training were senior specialist District Hospital Dimapur, Dr. Yanren and senior consultant UNICEF, Dr. Longri Kichu.
The resource persons took sessions on goals and objectives, quality care in labour room, stages of labour, safe childbirth checklist, safe delivery application, care of mother and new-born immediately after birth, use of partograph to decrease maternal, etc.
DPM (QA) Mununu Vero also conducted a session on bio-medical waste management and prevention of infection.
The training concluded with a practical session on Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE). The participants at the training programme included two medical officers, three community officers, eight GNMs and three ANMs. It may be mentioned that Dakshata is an initiative under the National Health Mission (NHM) to improve the quality of maternal and new-born care during the intra and immediate postpartum period, through providers who are competent.
