As part of the nationwide “Meri Maati Mera Desh” campaign, a significant event was organized across various locations within the Kohima Municipal Area on August 17.
A DIPR report informed that the event aimed to pay homage to the brave soldiers who have made the supreme sacrifice for the nation, as part of the culminating event of the “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.”
At the event held near the Raj Bhavan Area, close to the DC’s official residence, Deputy Commissioner Kohima, Shanavas C delivered a keynote address.
He said that the campaign was an opportunity to honor the memory of those “Veers” (Bravehearts) who laid down their lives during India’s struggle for Independence.
He recollected the sacrifices made by countless individuals during the fight for freedom and emphasized the nation’s unity in diversity.
Shanavas also unfurled the National Flag during the event, while participants joined in singing the National Anthem. SP Kohima, Imnalensa, administered the Panch Pran Pledge, promoting five essential principles.
Chairman of Officer’s Hill Panchayat dedicated the Shilaphalakam (memorial plaque) to honor the sacrifice of those brave souls. The program was presided by administrator of KMC, T. Lanusenla L. Peseyie.
Simultaneously, similar campaign programs were conducted at Rüzhükhrie Government Higher Secondary School and the Directorate of Art & Culture.
The National Flag was hoisted by Dr. Riku Khutso, EAC Kohima, and Moasunep K. Jingru, EAC Kohima, respectively. Schoolchildren and local leaders participated in these ceremonies.
