Two-day training to equip district polling officials underway

To equip district election officers (DEOs) with knowledge and skill for the forthcoming general election to the Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA), a two-day training programme of the deputy commissioners (DCs) & district election officers (DEOs) got underway at the commissioner’s conference hall, Kohima on Wednesday.
The training programme, inaugurated by the chief electoral officer (CEO) Nagaland, V Shashank Shekhar, is being conducted in accordance with directions of the Election Commission of India (ECI).
In his inaugural address, CEO Nagaland emphasized on the important role played by the district electoral machinery headed by DCs & DEOs in the overall conduct and management of the entire electoral process.
CEO stated that recently the IAS Academy in Mussoorie along with Ministry of Personnel had organized a commemorative webinar on 250 years of the institution of the district collector.
He stated that election management and related work is a good area to serve society.
CEO expressed hope that all responsible would benefit from the knowledge of the resource persons.
The two-day training programme is being conducted by resource persons from the ECI and India International Institute of Democracy and Election Management (IIIDEM).
Various sessions include District Election Management Plan (DEMP)/Booth-Level Election Management Plan (BEMP), Vulnerability Mapping, Systematic Voter Education & Electoral Participation (SVEEP), Model Code of Conduct (MCC), IT applications, Media Certification & Monitoring Committee (MCMC) & Paid News, Law & Order, Expenditure Monitoring and Accounts on Election Expenditure.
