United Naga Council (UNC), the apex Naga organisation in Manipur, has expressed strong opposition to the issues raised and incorporated in the memorandum submitted to different authorities by the Kuki-Zo people.
UNC through its information & publicity secretary James Hau stated that Kuki-Zo peoples memorandum was posing a big threat to the very existence and inalienable rights of the Nagas particularly in the state of Manipur.
UNC said it has been putting all possible efforts to end the ongoing ethnic conflict between the Kuki-Zo and Meiteis through dialogue. However, UNC said that “unfortunately” things were not turning positive as expected.
UNC stated that Nagas have also taken aback by the “blatant lies, lop-sided history and fabricated information” contained in every statement and memorandum issued by Kuki-Zo community, which it described as “tantamount to distortion of Naga history and insult to the Naga people.”
