Various activities mark ‘Janjatiya Gaurav Divas’ celebration

Nagaland Tribal Research Institute (NTRC) under the department of Tribal Affairs, Government of Nagaland, celebrated the week long “Janjatiya Gaurav Divas 2022” in commemoration of Tribal Freedom fighters. In a press release, Nodal Officer, Tribal Affairs department, M.Kichung Phom informed that the event kicked off with a Tribal Walkathon from GHSS ground Kohima to New Secretariat Complex which was flagged off by chief secretary, J Alam on November 15. On the second day, November 16, a cultural programme was held at Capital Convention centre. The event was graced by minister of Higher Education and Tribal Affairs, Temjen Imna Along as chief guest with participants from all the tribes.
A seminar on the Topic “The Essence of Tribal is India” was organized in collaboration with State college of Teachers Education Kohima. Various events such as painting, essay writing, dancing competition, poster making etc was also conducted at Eklavya Model residential school located at Tizt (Mon district), Tuensang & Diphupar (Dimapur). On November 19, Swachchta campaign was organized where the members and volunteers of NTRC and Tribal Affairs department carried out social work in office area and adjacent areas.
