Educational institutions, departments and other organisations have been organising various programmes for students across the state.
SJU: Department of Political Science, St. Joseph University (SJU) Chümoukedima on September 21 observed United Nations’ “International Day of Peace 2022” on the theme, “End Racism, Build Peace” with a talk by freelance speaker and academic, Dr. Kethoser Aniu Kevuchusa.
A press release by SJU stated that while speaking on “Peace in the Context of Naga Political Conflict”, Dr. Kevichusa pointed out that the “costs of war in Nagaland” owing to brutalities faced by people under both government of India and “Naga underground groups”, were clearly reflected in problems resulting in (non/under) development, unemployment and fear psychosis, largely due to political instability and political conflict.
He specified various dimensions of peace, exogeneous and endogenous ways in which conflicts could be understood and resolved.
In separate events, SJU in collaboration with Talent Acquaintance Company organised campus drive for present final year students on September 22. Department of psychology and counselling conducted an outreach programme on September 23 at Open Doors, an old Age Home in 4th Mile, Chümoukedima. The department of Zoology also conducted an outreach programme on September 22 at Bluemoon School, Sangtamtilla Village while department of Economics organised cultural and economic talent day on September 23 at university auditorium.
TGOUN: The Global Open University, Nagaland, department of Hotel Management, organised a programme on disaster management and first aid dealing with emergency situation and fire drill at the University campus on September 23, as part of the student’s academic curriculum in collaboration with Home Guards, Civil Defense and SDRF Dimapur.
In a press release, TGOUN stated that altogether, around 50 students and faculties of Hotel Management and Fashion Technology (regular students) took part in the demonstration programme.
At the programme, department of Hotel management in-charge, S. Bendang Imsong acknowledged district commandant, Home Guards, Civil Defence and SDRF Dimapur, Akhu Kath and his team led by Lipoksashi Aier (S.I) and 11 expert armed personnel for imparting knowledge through demonstrations.
NCHD&IT: Nagaland Centre for Human Development & Information Technology (NCHD&IT), a non-profit organization that works in education sector in the Government primary Schools of Dimapur district under donor agent IDeA – The Ant, organised an annual education fair on September 22 at Ghokito Village. During the programme, students of Ghokito Government Primary School were given a school bag each along with their activity report.
