VDBs asked to utilise funds transparently & judiciously

Highlighting various development project and schemes of the government, Rural Development (RD) director, Liboni Humtsoe urged village functionaries especially the Village Development Board (VDBs) to transparently and judiciously utilize the funds and implement the schemes as per the specifications and guidelines for the benefit of the community.
According to a DIPR report, Humtsoe said this while addressing a gathering at the inauguration of an amphitheatre constructed under 15 Finance Commission(untied) 2022-23 at Phiro village under Wozhuro Block of District Rural Development Agency (DRDA), Wokha on Saturday.
She also appealed to the village community to extend cooperation to the village functionaries and implementing agencies so that schemes and projects were appropriately implemented.
Humtsoe asserted the importance of sincerity and dedication to successfully implement various programs and policies of the government.
Underscoring the importance of unity for development, she called upon the village and the village functionaries to work in unity to bring about change and development and for a prosperous society.
With the objective to give recognition to the VDBs, Humtsoe said government of India has introduced National Panchayath Awards (NPA) to the best performing VBDs under which nine themes have been categorised namely poverty free and enhanced livelihood, healthy village, child friendly village, water sufficient village, clean and green village, self-sufficient infrastructure, socially secured village with good governance and women friendly village.
The director expressed gratitude to Wokha District Village Development Board Association (WDVDBA) for their sincere effort in successfully implementing the project. She also thanked the land owner for generously and willing donating the land to construct the amphitheatre, the first of its kind in Wokha district.
During the programme, short speeches were delivered by project director, DRDA Wokha P.Koza, general secretary Nagaland State Village Development Board Association (NSVDBA) Manthungo Kikon, Dr.Imli vice president NSVDBA, chairman Phiro Village council and representatives from the land donor/owner.
The welcome address was delivered by WDVDBA president, Mhondamo Shitiri.
