Correspondent

Western Angami Catholic Youth Association (WACYA) golden jubilee celebration under the theme, “U Ruopfü Pekrulie Khe” concluded on Sunday, following the Holy Eucharist at St John Bosco Campus, Khonoma.
Main celebrant of the jubilee, Most Rev Dr James Thoppil, Bishop of Kohima in his homily congratulated the association for having reached a milestone.
He observed that jubilee was an occasion to rejoice and celebrate with gratitude to the pioneers who took the initiatives to form the association.
Highlighting the significance of the theme, “To preserve our soul”, Bishop urged the youths to live the present with greater commitment and look to the future with hope.
He prayed that the jubilee would be an occasion to allow God to touch the people and enable them to be doing good things for God and his people, in the church and in the society as well.
Thoppil said, in a society where politicians manipulate facts and misuse public office for their vested interests, the mission of the disciples of Christ was difficult and challenging, but possible with God’s help and grace.
The Bishop also released the jubilee souvenir during the occasion.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by WACYA president, Keneisetuo Anthony, while Jotsoma Catholic Youth Association was the choir during the service.
On the first day the jubilee monolith was unveiled and blessed by St. John the Evangelist Parish, Khonoma, parish priest-Rev Dr Fr Solomon Vizo.
