Water availability a major challenge: Alam

Chief secretary Nagaland, J Alam said sustainable water sources and water conservation are in the interest of everybody in the state since water availability was becoming a major challenge for the state.
According to a DIPR report, Alam was addressing a meeting held to review the action plan on “Jal Shakti Abhiyan: Catch the Rain 2023” Thursday at Chief Secretary’s Conference Hall, Kohima with participating departments under JSA: CTR 2023.
The chief secretary identified Longleng, Kohima, Tuensang Zunheboto, and Kiphire as five “water-stressed districts” in Nagaland.
He then asserted that not only the participating departments but the state government and the people needed to be actively involved in this important endeavour.
It may be noted that the Ministry of Jal Shakti launched a nation-wide campaign, JSA: CTR focusing on saving and conserving rainwater with the theme “Catch the rain, where it falls, when it falls” from March 29, 2022 to November 30, 2022, in the pre-monsoon and monsoon periods of 2022, covering both urban and rural areas of all the districts in the country.
The JSA: CTR-2023 was launched under theme “Source Sustainability for Drinking Water” in all the districts of the country, covering both rural and urban areas from March 4, 2022 to November 30, 2023.
