Wka district tops TB overall performance

Wokha district has secured first in the overall performance followed by Mon and Kiphire districts during the year 2021 of Tuberculosis (TB) elimination programme.
This was revealed by medical consultant WHO National TB Elimination Programme (NTEP), Dr. Collins Z Sono while delivering state presentation during the annual review meeting of NTEP on February 3 in the IDSP conference hall, directorate of Health & Family Welfare (H&FW) Kohima.
A press release from the state programme officer (NTEP) directorate of H&FW stated that Dr. Sono said Longleng and Kiphire districts were performing well in TB notification whereas Peren and Phek districts were the lowest performing districts.
Dr. Sono also said that Kiphire, Mon and Wokha district were best in Universal Drug Susceptibility Testing (UDST 2021) offered among TB patients.
Mission director (NHM) Dr. I Talitemsula Jamir appreciated NTEP for conducting review meeting regularly. She also stressed on the importance of the State Nodal Agency (SNA) which is a new financial system.
Dr. Jamir reminded all to work in close co-ordination with the NHM-DAM for any issue at the district level. She also encouraged DTOs and staff to put more efforts for TB Elimination.
The State TB Officer, Dr Tiasunup Pongener welcomed all the attendees and encouraged all to strive harder to achieve the program’s targets an indicator. The meeting was attended by districts TB officers and district accountants.
