A two-day women leadership meet “#mPowerWomen@Work and #mPowerBusinessWomen” was organised by US Consulate General, Kolkata, supported by social enterprise Contact Base in close coordination with YouthNet on June 1-2.
A press release by the US Consulate General, Kolkata informed that the programme was part of “Women Welding the Workplace” (WWW) project.
A cluster visit and round table meetings were organising during the two-day meet. During the meet, the experts reflected on the current situation of women and creative economy, cultural diversity and peace, employability, and access to finance for women, international business and sustainable farming, responsible tourism, sustainable business, gender equity, and cultural diplomacy.
The team also visited Loinloom Weaving Cluster at Dhansiripar Village, Chumoukedima and Banana Fibre extraction cluster, at Bade Village, Chumoukedima.
A “#mPowerBusinessWomen meet” was inaugurated on the second day by director, American Center Kolkata and Public Affairs Officer, U.S. Consulate General, Adrian Pratt.
During the meet, five business experts, representatives from business networks, and mentors shared insights on Women’s Economic Empowerment in the state. This was followed by mentoring session for aspiring women led enterprises from Nagaland, addressing access to market, finance, networks, and mentors. Five industry experts also provided group mentoring session to three start-ups from Nagaland.
