Development Association of Nagaland (DAN) organised stakeholder’s consultation and synergy development workshop on “contemporary issues in promotion and protection of child rights”, at CKS Hall Tuensang, on September 14.
A press release by DAN press desk stated that chief manager, State Bank of India (SBI) Tuensang Lohu Besii spoke on various programmes and schemes through banks and financial institutions.
Lohu advised the participants to cultivate the habit of saving and cautioned them about scammers.
He asked them to remain safe and not run after easy ways of earning.
Achu from District Child Protection Unit Tuensang spoke on roles and responsibilities of department based on four pillars of rights of children, while inspector, Social Welfare department, Tuensang, Tsopong spoke on schemes for differently abled people.
He also presented statistics of beneficiaries in district and informed about the procedures of availing benefits.
Tsopong, however expressed concern that allotment of beneficiaries was limited against numbers identified and assured that the department had cleaned up many undeserving beneficiaries.
The workshop brought together members of child protection committees, representatives from educational institutions, government departments, NGOs and community leaders.
Earlier, superintendent of Bethel Children Home and Kohdi Children Home also shared their experiences and aspiration for the area, especially for the lives of children.
