WRC inaugurated in Mokokchung

Director, Women Resource Development, Vilone Sakhrie inaugurated Women Resource Centre (WRC) at Mokokchung on November 23.
According to DIPR report, the director said that due to the pandemic and post-pandemic difficulties, the inauguration of the Centre was delayed.
However, he assured that various women-centric programmes and activities shall be implemented as per the needs and requirements of the district in due course of time.
He also applauded the department’s long partnership with the Watsu Mungdang for implementing various programmes in the district.
To upgrade the skills and activities of the women in the district, Sakhrie said that in line with the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the two parties, various collaborative activities will be charted and implemented accordingly.
On the occasion, Watsu Mungdang president, S. Arenla Longkumer gave a brief description of how the concept of the Women Resource Centre, Mokokchung was conceived and pursued by Watsu Mungdang.
She elaborated on the vision of Watsu Mungdang about the future programmes and activities to be taken up.
During the closing remarks, WRDO and officers in-charge Mokokchung, T. Thungbemo Patton informed that the basic foundation of cooperation between the department and Watsu Mungdang shall be based on the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the two parties on February 20, 2020. He also informed that apart from the clause reflected in the MoU for the mutual benefit of both the parties to bring socio-economics empowerment in the state, both parties will work together in various areas in the future.
The inaugural programme was followed by the training of 30 beneficiaries on post-harvest, processing, and value addition under the initiatives of assistant director and officer in charge of Food Processing, Nzanthung K Yanthan.
