Zbto DPDB discusses TB elimination

The monthly District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) meeting in Zunheboto district, was held on Tuesday, in the conference hall of the deputy commissioner (DC), under the chairmanship of DC and vice-chairman DPDB, Rahul Bhanudas Mali.
According to a DIPR report, district tuberculosis officer (DTO), Dr. Aron briefed the members on Ni-kshay, a programme under National TB Elimination Programme (NTEP) initiated to free India of TB by 2025.
He said that the programme provides free diagnosis and medicines and that the patients also need to be nourished.
“It has been discovered and proven that there is significant cause and rise in TB if a patient is malnourished and when a person is diagnosed with TB, there is a certain possibility of malnourishment and the existence of this cycle needs to be broken,” he said.
In this regard, Dr. Aron appealed to the board to contribute to the cause which was also endorsed by the DC.
Rahul Bhanudas Mali said it was a noble deed to contribute towards the nourishment of TB patients and signed to contribute on behalf of the district administration.
At the meeting, the DC congratulating athletes who participated in the Nagaland Olympic and Paralympics 2022. He lauded the podium finishers and other participants headed by District Sports Council Zunheboto for their efforts.
Earlier, DPO Zunheboto, David Sema reviewed previous meeting minutes.
In an agenda on Hukuthu Self Help Group registration, the board approved for higher authorities. On bifurcation of Asukhomi village to Asukhomi New and Asukhomi old, SDO (C) Zunheboto Athrong said legalities were thoroughly scrutinised and every requirement was met.
This was approved by board members for further procedures.
DC also apprised the board on blood bank by informing that the equipment have safely reached the district and could be inaugurated by the next week.
