Zeliang, Tovihoto kick off campaign

Former chief minister and NDPP candidate of 7 Peren A/C, T.R. Zeliang and BJP candidate of 1 Dimapur-I Assembly Constituency, H. Tovihoto Ayemi kicked started their election campaign on Monday in Jalukie and Dimapur respectively.
T.R. Zeliang: Zeliang asserted that the BJP-NDPP alliance will form the next government under the leadership of Neiphiu Rio and expressed confidence that NDPP will win more than 30 seats and alliance partner BJP will win more than 10 seats.
He said this while kicking off his election campaign at GHSS ground, Jalukie town on February 13. He said in 2018 election, the support of Independent and other political parties were needed to form the government but this time the support of smaller parties in the state including Independent will not be needed as BJP-NDPP alliance will secure the absolute majority. Zeliang also claimed that there was no certainty in NPF. He said the BJP has also agreed to form the next government under Neiphiu Rio for a stable government.
On the seat sharing between BJP and NDPP, Zeliang said the seat sharing was for the benefit of the Nagas as Nagaland depend on Centre. Zeliang, who is also the chairman of UDA claimed that he joined NDPP under the leadership of Neiphiu Rio to pursue the Naga solution and to form a stable and strong government in the event of no solution.
Expressing gratitude to NDPP leadership for issuing him the party ticket, Zeliang said the vision of the NDPP was to form stable government and for all round development.
Delivering short speech, Iherie Ndang, who contested against T.R. Zeliang on NDPP ticket in 2018 said that this time in the greater interest of the district, he joined hands with Zeliang. He therefore reminded the gathering that there was no need to fight among them but should work together for the development of the district. Vice president CEC NDPP, Charles Sekhose in his speech highlighted the vision of the party and asserted that presence of matured and experienced leaders in BJP-NDPP will achieve the vision which has not been accomplished. He said the party will be taken forward by these matured leaders.
Tovihoto: Tovihoto accompanied by his chief agent Zasivikho Zakiesatou, campaign director, Hokuto Zhimo and host of BJP officials of BJP Mandal, 1 Dimapur-I A/C thanked the electorates of the constituency for reposing confidence on him and electing him in the past two terms.
He said BJP under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has brought tremendous change throughout the country including Nagaland and the people of 1 Dimapur-I A/C. He assured that the BJP would continue to do the same, working for the upliftment of the people even in the days.
Asserting that peace is prerequisite for development and progress of any society, the BJP candidate maintained that he has always given special emphasis on peace and development of the society and added that public of the constituency are the witness to the work done for the constituency and the prevalence of peace. He assured to continue to stand for public of the constituency and shall work together for peace, harmony and development of the constituency.
BJP workers of the constituency, leaders of the respective wards and colonies also spoke on the occasion acknowledging the commitment of Tovihoto and the works done by him for the constituency in the past two terms.
