Zeliangrong Students’ Union Nagaland (ZSUN) urges DoSE to reconsider rationalisation of schools, teachers

DIMAPUR: Zeliangrong Students’ Union Nagaland (ZSUN) has expressed dismay over the move by the School Education department on rationalisation of schools and teachers in Peren district.
In a press note, ZSUN through its media cell said that the decision of redeployment of teachers was is being done without considering the practical ground reality that student community and public were facing.
ZSUN said that the present system of rationalization of teachers was not feasible in the district and pointed out that it was unfair to transfer dedicated teachers to another place as they (teachers) had been sincerely discharging their duties for the betterment of student community.
ZSUN has appealed to the Education department to reconsider the decision and put “on hold” the order and come out with fresh order in Peren district in the greater interest of the student community.
The union further said that “no random cross-transfer be accepted/made without ascertaining the actual position of schools & teachers in Peren district”.
It said that if teachers are allowed to be only in their preferred posting place, then the outcome of students would be adversely impacted. Being government employees, ZSUN said teachers were bound to carry out their duty and give their optimal knowledge to the student community.
ZSUN said that transferring teachers would only create chaos and confusion in the minds of student community as it would take time for students to get acquainted with new ways and means of teaching methods by new teachers with different ideas.
ZSUN further pointed out that there were some government schools with acute shortage of teachers and in some cases with excess number of teachers. Therefore, ZSUN sought the intervention of the School Education department and recommendation committee to look into the matter.
