ZGC holds seminar on legal awareness

With the objective of rendering awareness on new age menace of “Cyber Crime” and importance of RTI and Consumer Rights, Women and Student Grievance Redressal Cell and Internal Complaint Cell, Zunheboto Government College (ZGC), in collaboration with Sakhi- One Stop Centre Zunheboto, organized one day seminar on legal awareness.
A press release by ZGC stated that resource person, Centre Administrator, Sakhi- One Stop Centre Zunheboto, Alovini Yeptho, spoke on the topic “Cyber Crime”. In her presentation Yeptho educated students on the need to be aware of various areas where cybercrime could be committed and how they could become victim to cybercrime.
She further sensitized the audience with important facts and data in regard to cybercrime.
Emphasizing on the alarming fact that cybercrime occurs every 10 seconds in India, Yeptho stressed on the importance of safeguarding personal details on social media, as well as to avoid misusing the same.
She also stressed on the need to maintain cyber hygiene and ended the session by sharing important details on how to file cybercrime complaint, along with contact details and precautionary measures to ensure safety and security.
In the second session, resource person, Case Worker Sakhi-One Stop Centre Zunheboto, Helito L. Chophi, spoke on RTI and Consumer Rights. The resource person enlightened on the progressive history and features of RTI Act in India and how the Act empowered citizens the right to demand information.
She also shared data regarding application of RTI in the country, with focus on Nagaland.
Discussion on RTI ended with the resource person providing format and procedure to apply for RTI, followed by the shift to yet another informative discussion on consumer rights. The release added that the programme concluded with Assistant Professor and member IQAC, Dr. Viheno Iralu, presenting concluding remarks.
