Zhadima Village Council asks PHED to reply to its memo within 60 days

Zhadima Village Council (ZVC) has submitted a representation to Public Health Engineering Department’s (PHED) chief engineer in regard to the project for providing water supply to 24 villages under Chiephobozou Block.
The project was sanctioned under the Non-Lapsable Central Pool of Resource (NLCPR) under the Union Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER).
In the representation, ZVC said along with neighbouring villages it had stopped the project on July 30, 2019 as it was incomplete and lacked credibility as there were numerous lapses in providing water supply to the earmarked villages.
The tall promises made by PHED minister on July 30, 2019 to fully complete and commission the project latest by December 2019 still stood unfulfilled, stated the representation signed by ZVC chairman Neilalhoulie Soliezuo, general secretary Seyiekhrielhou Kuotsu and Water and Sanitation (WATSAN) committee chairman Roko Angami.
The village council also demanded to know which were the 11 villages where water supply was available as per PHE department’s claim in the local newspapers.
It also asked why only nine villages were to be covered by pumping when originally 24 villages were earmarked for coverage under the Non-Lapsable Central Pool of Resource project and when more than Rs 24.96 crore had been spent.
Further, the signatories asked which were the remaining 15 villages that were yet to be supplied water through independent sources and what actually were the independent sources as per the department’s claim.
The village council asked the PHE department to provide its response within 60 days from the receipt of this representation.
Noting that many tall promises had been made, it regretted that the project could not be completed on time and that no positive outcome had been achieved to date.
Therefore, the council said it was constrained to submit the representation, cautioning that it should not be held responsible for any untoward eventuality.
