Zhaleo graces CYOG-C wrestling and volleyball meet

Advisor, Sericulture, Excise & Minority Affairs, Nagaland Zhaleo Rio graced the inaugural programme of the two-day Chakhroma Youth Organisation Group-C (CYOG-C) wrestling and volleyball meet at Medziphema ‘A’ village on January 10 as the special guest. Altogether, 5 villages are in the group.
Speaking at the inaugural programme, Zhaleo spoke on the importance of games and sports while stressing on the need to “develop a determined spirit to succeed” and a collective effort from stakeholders.
He exhorted the players to choose their game and dedicate themselves wholeheartedly wherein discipline, health and training plays pivotal role in building one’s career.
“Sports is a profession which promises immense scope even in employment sector so long a person can achieve laurels and earn recognition”, he stated. He added that parents or elders should also prioritise to encourage youngsters in the field of sports and advised, young people to learn to cope with failures and learn from mistakes.
On development sector, Rio assured that road renovation and black topping of the road from Medziphema Town till Tsüüma would commence soon, which will be followed by introducing NST bus service from Medziphema Town to Ngwalwa. He asserted that the bus service will boost marketing avenues for villagers as well as students who commute to schools and colleges.
On the general assembly election which is likely to be held in few months, Rio opined that people should organise common platform for intending candidates to debate on contentious issues related to development and people’s welfare programmes.
The inaugural session was chaired by Rokozhakho Kruse while former pastor, Medziphema ‘A’ Baptist Church, Kelhoutshevi Kehie, pronounced the invocation and Sitso Terhüja shared the welcome address.
Later in the day, Zhaleo attended the 22nd Sakipheto Area Students’ Union conference at Kupuhe Village as the special guest which got underway with student members from 7 villages.
The programme was chaired by Khevikhu Yeptho and invocation was offered by Youth Pastor, ABK Noghipu Kiho.
