Zeliang Students’ Union (ZLSU) has red flagged the issue of rampant inter-state drug trafficking.
In a press note, ZLSU through its media cell, while acknowledging the positive development taking place in the improvement of interstate road connectivity between Nagaland and Manipur via Peren district, however, expressed concern of illicit drugs beign trafficked through the district.
ZLSU said it was extremely distressed about such anti-social activities and appealed to the department concerned to take appropriate action to curb such menace.
“If the same trend continues it will ruin our students’ community and youths, and ultimately damage our community,” ZLSU stated. The union also urged upon the law enforcement agencies to swiftly act by deploying police personnel and other agencies at every entry and exit point.
The union assured all cooperation with the law enforcement agencies to stop the menace.
Meanwhile, the union has warned drug peddlers/smugglers and users that it would impose punitive actions against such perpetrators if caught.
