India issues updated safety alert amid Israel-Iran tensions

As regional tensions continue to escalate, the Indian Embassy in Israel has issued a new safety advisory for Indian citizens residing in the country, given the intensifying conflict between Iran and Israel.

On social media platform X, the official account @indemtel advised: “In view of the current situation in the region, all Indian nationals in Israel are urged to remain alert and follow safety instructions issued by the Israeli authorities and the Home Front Command.”

The advisory emphasized caution, recommending Indian citizens avoid all non-essential travel within Israel and stay close to designated safety shelters.

The message added, “We are closely monitoring the situation, including the safety and well-being of Indian nationals. In case of emergencies, please contact the Embassy’s 24/7 helpline: +972 54-7520711, +972 54-3278392, or email: cons1.telaviv@mea.gov.in.”

Earlier on Friday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, providing an update on the “evolving situation” following Israel’s military operation against Iran.

PM Modi shared via X, “Received a call from Prime Minister Netanyahu of Israel. He briefed me on the developing situation. I expressed India’s concerns and stressed the importance of restoring peace and stability in the region.”

Netanyahu’s office revealed that the Israeli leader has been engaging with world leaders, including the German Chancellor, French President, and Indian Prime Minister, after initiating ‘Operation Rising Lion’—a military effort aimed at countering what Israel describes as the “Iranian threat of annihilation.”

The statement added that Netanyahu plans to continue discussions with U.S. President Trump, Russian President Putin, and the British Prime Minister in the coming days.

On Friday, Netanyahu announced the start of ‘Operation Rising Lion,’ a targeted military campaign to dismantle Iran’s nuclear infrastructure and ensure Israel’s security.

Tensions surged further early Saturday morning when approximately 100 missiles were launched from Iran toward central and northern Israel in two massive retaliatory barrages. According to Israeli military sources and emergency services at Magen David Adom (MDA), the attacks caused notable damage and injuries.

At least 41 people were injured—two critically, two with moderate injuries, and four with light to moderate injuries. The rest experienced trauma, panic attacks, or minor injuries.

Iranian state television confirmed that these missile strikes are part of a renewed offensive amid deteriorating hostilities between the two nations.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) acknowledged the missile attacks, stating, “Another barrage has been launched toward Israel,” although details regarding the number of missiles or specific target areas have not yet been disclosed.
