District Health Society, Mon organized an induction training program for Urban ASHAs under the National Urban Health Mission (NUHM) from May 20 to May 25 at the Chief Medical Officer’s (CMO) office in Mon.
CMO Mon, Dr. Supongmenla Walling, welcomed the state resource persons and newly appointed Urban ASHAs, encouraging them to actively participate in the training to enhance their knowledge and skills.
Deputy CMO and ASHA program nodal officer, Dr. Aonungdok Tushi Ao, explained the ASHA concept, emphasizing their crucial role as the first point of contact in the community. He urged participants to ask questions and clarify doubts for a better understanding.
Sessions were conducted by NUHM resource persons, including Kohima District Consultant Subonglemla Jamir, Mokokchung District Consultant Sentirenla Longchar, and Senior Programme Manager (Community Processes) Chubala Pongen. Topics covered included ASHA responsibilities, essential skills, maternal and child health, newborn care, incentives, and reporting.
Chubala Pongen expressed gratitude to the District Programme Management Unit, Mon, and warmly welcomed the new ASHAs, reinforcing the importance of their role in community healthcare.
