Deputy Commissioner and District Election Officer (DC & DEO) Wokha, Dr. Manazir Jeelani Samoon has informed that third and final round of training for all polling personnel drafted for election duty is fixed on February 24, 10 a.m. at Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Wokha. All polling personnel have been informed to attend the training without fail. It further warned that disciplinary action shall be initiated against the absentees as per the relevant sections of law.
Directives for BLOs and information for electorates: It has come to the notice that some BLO’s have been giving photo voter slips in bulk to the village council or colony chairman. In this connection, DC & DEO Wokha Dr. Manazir Jeelani Samoon has reiterated that such practice will invite penal action as per election laws. Therefore, all the BLOs have been directed to take appropriate measure to ensure that photo voter slips are given to the concerned person only.
DC & DEO Wokha also informed the general public that authentic photo voter slips issued by election department is one of the documents which can be used as an identity proof. There are 11 other documents approved by ECI for establishing identity at the time of voting, i.e. “not having photo voter slip does not mean one can’t vote”. The following documents are passport, driving license, service identity cards with photograph issue to employees by central, state government PSUs, public limited companies, passbooks with photograph issued by bank, post office; PAN card, smart card issued by RGI under NPR, MNREGA job card, health insurance smart card issued under the scheme of Ministry of Labour, pension document with photograph, official identity cards issued to MPs, MLAs, MLCs and aadhaar card.
KOHIMA: All the contesting candidates of Kohima district have been informed that “Scrutiny of Form 17A” and other relevant documents will be taken up on February 28, with 9 Kohima Town – 11 a.m, 10 Northern Angami I -11:30 a.m, 12 Tseminyu – 12 p.m at DC Conference Hall, Office of the deputy commissioner, Kohima and 8 Western Angami – 11 a.m, 14 Southern Angami I – 11:30 a.m, 15 Southern Angami II – 12 p.m at DPDB Hall, Office of the District Planning Machinery, DC Office Complex, Kohima.
According to DIPR, DC & DEO Kohima, Rajesh Soundararajan has therefore informed all candidates to take note of the date, venue and time of scrutiny. The candidates himself or his election agent may be present at the time of scrutiny. In case the candidate is represented by his election agent, the concerned election agent should come with a copy of his appointment in form 8.
DC&DEO Kohima on candidates and political parties: DC & DEO Kohima, Rajesh Soundararajan has informed all concerned that under Section 126 of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, in the period of 48 hours ending with the hour fixed for the close of poll, no campaign can be carried out.
In view of the fact that after the closure of campaign period no campaign can take place, the Election Commission of India (ECI) vide letter No.462/INST/2007-PLN-I dated January 8, 2017 has directed that no political functionaries/party workers/procession functionaries/campaign functionaries etc. from outside the constituency and who are not voters of the constituency shall remain in the constituency after the campaign period is over.
Further, the DC & DEO Kohima has informed all concerned to take note of the restrictions and ensure that no political functionaries/party workers/procession functionaries/campaign functionaries etc. from outside the constituency and who are not voters of the constituency shall remain in the constituency from 4 p.m  of February 25 till the election is over.
EPICs: DC & DEO Kohima  Rajesh Soundararajan has informed the general public that the Election Commission of India (ECI) has directed that for the current general election all electors who have been issued EPICs to produce their EPICs for their identification at the polling station before casting their vote. Those electors who are not able to produce the EPIC shall have to produce one of the following alternative photo identity documents for establishing their identity – passport, driving licence, service identity cards with photograph issued to employees by central/state/govt/PSUs/public limited companies, passbooks with photograph issued by bank/post office, PAN card, smart card issued by RGI under NPR, MNREGA job card, health insurance smart card issued under the scheme of ministry of labour, pension document with photograph, authenticated photo voter slip issued by the election machinery, official identity cards issued to MPs/MLAs/MLCs; and aadhaar card. 
On polling officials: DC and DEO Kohima Rajesh Soundararajan has directed all government officials who have been assigned polling  duty under Kohima district to bring one passport size photograph on February 26 for use in the identity cards for polling officials.
DIMAPUR: DC&DEO Dimapur, Sushil Kumar Patel has informed all intending candidates and their agents of Dimapur district for the general election to collect car passes from DC & DEO office for the day of poll i.e.  February 27. It has also informed that the car passes issued to them earlier by respective returning officers shall have to be deposited to the DC & DEO.
