ACAUT Nagaland on Sunday demanded state government initiate Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe for an impartial inquiry into the Controller and Auditor General (CAG) report for the year 2014-2015, which had detected various anomalies and rampant corruption in various government departments.
Stating that CAG report had revealed rampant corruption in almost all government departments, ACAUT also demanded immediate suspension of officials implicated/alleged on corruption, seizure of moveable and non-moveable assets of those implicated in the CAG report and prosecution of those implicated for corruptions stringently as per the law.
In a press release, ACAUT media cell claimed that CAG report was just a tip of iceberg in the sea of corruption taking place in Nagaland and “impunity” of the officials involved in corruption.
ACAUT said CAG report on embezzlement of MGNREGA fund and gross misappropriation of MGNREGA funds for Aghunaga were glaring examples of how MGNREGA scheme was a total failure in the state.
It pointed out that the payment of Rs. 2.32 crores to 48 ineligible and seven non-functional societies allegedly by director of Industries and Commerce was the reason the industries failed to come up in Nagaland.
ACAUT claimed that it was extremely reprehensible the funds were being diverted to “phantom units” when genuine small scale units and entrepreneurs were struggling without any subsidies or assistance.
It also claimed that while thousands of unemployed Naga youth are languishing and their talent wasted due to lack in infrastructures and facilities, funds meant for this have been “unscrupulously” diverted by the department of Youth Resource and Sports.
ACAUT also alleged that enough funds have been poured in for the completion of Sovima cricket stadium, but it was yet to see the light of day.
Therefore, ACAUT said against the back drop of such glaring and “undeniable” proof of corruption, fund diversions and embezzlement of governmental funds, it was expected on the part of the state government to act on it.
