Dimapur Police Tuesday established that Longjam Ojit Meitei, injured on Monday night IED accidental blast near Blue Hill Bus station, Eros Lane was a member of Manipur based People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK).
According to SDPO Dimapur, Mhonyamo Tsopoe this was learnt through its internal investigation. “Most probably his accomplice who fled away may be also from the same group”, Mhonyamo said.
SDPO said that police have not established the whole details on the possession of the IEDs by Ojit and his accomplice, as Ojit, currently undergoing treatment at Dimapur District Hospital, was “not in a condition to speak”.
Police has also recovered an ID card of Universal Friendship Organization (UFO), where Ojit had enrolled himself as life time member. Police source said that UFO was supported by valley based militants in Manipur.
Dimapur Police also found out that in 2011, Ojit was arrested by security forces in Manipur in connection with an arms case.
Police also informed that two IEDs recovered from the site of the blast have been safely disposed off at around 4.30 a.m. Tuesday at State Stadium by the army bomb disposal squad, Rangapahar.
Police suspect that the blast might have taken place while the two were testing the explosives.
A case has been registered at East police station, Dimapur and an investigation was on, SDPO said.
