Institutions promote research, culture

DIMAPUR

Academic institutions across Nagaland hosted a series of events aimed at fostering research, cultural expression and intellectual engagement among students and faculty.
At Baptist College, Kohima, the Research Development Cell (RDC) organised its Institutional Seminar 2025 on September 30, featuring interdisciplinary presentations from social sciences, humanities and environmental studies. NU Meriema Professor Tiatoshi Jamir served as the invited discussant. Topics ranged from women’s presence in higher education, colonial ecological impact, gender identity in folklore, indigenous ecological knowledge, political participation of Naga women, and urban waste management. The seminar concluded with feedback from the discussant and an interactive Q&A session.
Capital College of Higher Education hosted its two-day annual “Trifecta Fest” on September 28 and 29 under the theme “Tradition, Innovation, Legacy.” The event featured folk song and narrative competitions, musical performances, a debate on the NLTP Act, and offstage contests in essay writing, short story, painting and photography. The festival provided a vibrant platform for students to showcase their talents and cultural pride.
Meanwhile, the Department of History, St. Joseph University, Chümoukedima, conducted an academic lecture on “Indian Diaspora” on September 29 with Dr. M. Rajendran (IAS Retd.), Director-Admin, KMMC Medical College, as the resource person. The lecture explored the historical emergence, challenges and global contributions of diaspora communities. The session included a Q&A segment and was attended by 73 students and faculty members.
