Office of the programme coordinator Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Tesophenyu conducted training on Intensive Aquaculture in Ponds and Ta nks for the 2nd batch of progressive fishery farmers from June 25-27 at Tseminyu Town. The training programme was sponsored by National Fishery Development Board (NFDB), Hyderabad.
During the training, Wabang Longkumer, Fishery Demonstrator, District Fishery Office, Kohima delivered lectures on Pond management, Paddy cum fish Culture and Fish diseases their control and treatment. While Dr. Temjennungsang SMS (Ani.Sc) spoke on Piggery cum fish culture and its significance in elevating farmer’s economy and Shayhunlo Khing, Assistant Fishery Inspector, Tseminyu elaborated on composite fish culture. Khing was assisted by Shweni Ras, Fishery Demonstrator, for the practical demonstrations. The other highlights of the training included movie shows on fish and aquaculture practices in different parts of India to create awareness among the trainees. The trainees also visited an established fishery pond owned by Apenthong Chung of Tesophenyu village.
Altogether, 31 trainees from five villages under Tseminyu sub-division attended the training. The programme was chaired by Sesenlo Kath, Farm Manager, while Imtisenla SMS (Agronomy) highlighted the objectives, mandates and activities of KVK and Dr. Temjennungsang pronounced the vote of thanks.
