DIMAPUR, AUG 26 (NPN): The Inter-Department Table Tennis Tournament 2026 will be held from September 4 to 5 at the Indoor TT Stadium, Officers Hill, Kohima. The event is being organised by NIAPA Khelo India Centre, Chümoukedima, in collaboration with the Department of Youth Resources & Sports, Government of Nagaland.
The tournament will feature Team and Singles categories in an open, gender-neutral format to encourage wider participation among government employees across departments. Organisers stated that the initiative aims to provide an inclusive sporting platform where employees can compete while promoting sportsmanship.
The tournament will be played in league-cum-knockout format with two singles and one doubles match. Singles event will be knockout format, while the match rules will be in best-of-five basis.
Winners of the team event will receive Rs. 20,000 with citations; runners-up Rs. 15,000; third place Rs. 10,000; and fourth place Rs. 5,000.
A unique feature of the tournament is that each department may engage one State or National-level player to represent its team. This initiative is expected to raise the competitive standard while offering professional players support and remuneration.
The organisers expressed gratitude to the Department of Youth Resources & Sports for its collaboration and noted that the event is intended not only to promote table tennis but also to create opportunities for government employees to connect beyond workplace responsibilities.
