Inter Kashi stun Kerala Blasters 2-1 to earn maiden ISL victory

Inter Kashi scripted history on Saturday night as they claimed their first-ever win in the Indian Super League (ISL), defeating Kerala Blasters 2-1 at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium.
Goals from Nauris Petkevicius and Alfred Planas gave the debutants a commanding lead, before Victor Bertomeu pulled one back for the hosts. Despite a spirited fightback, the Blasters were left ruing missed chances as their winless run stretched to three matches. Petkevicius opened the scoring in the first half, finishing off a precise through-ball from Planas. The duo combined again late in the second half, with Petkevicius turning provider for Planas, who slotted home against the run of play.
Kerala Blasters, backed by one of the smallest crowds seen at the venue in recent times, had opportunities to equalise but poor finishing let them down repeatedly. Bertomeu’s strike from a well-taken Y. Ebindas free-kick gave the home side hope, but Inter Kashi held firm to secure all three points. For the Blasters, the defeat marked their third consecutive loss, leaving them without a point this season. Inter Kashi, meanwhile, remains unbeaten after three matches, proving that their promotion to India’s premier football league has been anything but daunting.
Mohun Bagan beat Mohammedan SC 5-1
Defending Indian Super League Cup winner Mohun Bagan Super Giant beat rival Mohammedan SC 5-1 in the first Kolkata derby at the Vivekananda Yuva Bharati Krirangan on Saturday.
Mohun Bagan was dominant from the very start, with 30-year-old Brazilian Robson Robinho slotting two goals within the first 30 minutes of the game. Jamie Maclaren, who found the net in the last two matches since the season started, was once again on the scoresheet.
Manvir found the net with a diving header before Dimitri Petratos, who was on the scoresheet against Chennaiyin FC, netted Mohun Bagan Super Giant’s fifth of the night.
The loss places Mohammedan SC at the bottom of the table with three losses in the three matches it has played. Lalthankima Rotluanga scored the only goal for Mohammedan.
