Inter school and college competitions held

In commemoration of the 2nd anniversary of “Better Dimapur”, and to sensitize general public regarding the hazardous conditions of  the environment, an inter school and college competition was held at Holy Cross Hr. Sec. School auditorium hall on May 25, here at Dimapur under the theme, “Standing with the environment”. The programme was organised by Dimapur Municipal Council and team Better Dimapur. 

The competition was held at the school and college level, wherein for the school level, painting competition was conducted on the topic "save the environment", essay competition on the topic "how to combat air pollution", and powerpoint presentation on the theme "tackling plastic waste in Dimapur". 

For college level, the debate competition was on the theme "environment is more important than development". A competition on the topic "Waste to art" was conducted, where St. John College secured the first prize represented by Chubaienla, Shunyei and Thengeo and second prize by SD. Jain College represented by Blessing Tikhir and Sharda Kumari, in the college level.

At the school level, Little Star Hr. Sr. School, represented by Moamenla Walling, Pezaiweli Zeliang and Suliana Begum bagged the first prize and second prize awarded to Ram Janaki Hr. Sr. School, represented by Anki Shah, Vicky Shah and Bikash Shah.  

For the college level debate competition on the topic, Bikash Das of Dimapur Government College won the best debater from against the motion team, while Rangtalak Pame, also from Dimapur Govt. College, won the best debater from for the motion team.   

In the powerpoint presentation, first prize was awarded to Ruma Sharma of Little Star Hr. Sr. School and second prize to Akansha Das of Holy Cross Hr. School, while for the essay competition, Yugank Das of Holy Cross Hr. Sr. School bagged the first position and Anita Daimary of Kendriya Vidyalaya, securing the send position.

In the painting category, first prize was received by Sayan Paul of Kendriya Vidyalaya and second by Pursanen of Cornerstone Hr. Sr. School.

Winners of every competition received cash award and certification.  In an informal interview with administrator, DMC, Moa Sangtam, he stated that the programme was organised to focus more on changing the mindsets of the people and to sensitize people regarding the hazardous condition of the environment.
