International University reacts to NPF statement

The International University, Dimapur, has issued a formal clarification in response to the allegations levelled by the Naga People’s Front (NPF), which were based on statements made by Dr. M. Motsuo Ngullie, the university’s first Vice Chancellor.

In a press statement, the Pro-Chancellor of the university, Dr. Utkarsh Sharma, firmly denied the accusations, stating that the university does not promote Hinduism, but upholds the principles of interfaith education.

To further illustrate its inclusive academic vision, Dr. Sharma announced that the university is working on a 20-volume “World Encyclopedia of Christianity in Nagaland”, adding that the encyclopaedia will comprehensively document Christianity’s origins, development, theological trends, and cultural impact in Nagaland. The first volume is scheduled for release within a month, and will be available for review by the press and public, he said.

Dr. Sharma clarified that Dr. M. Motsuo Ngullie was appointed as the first Vice Chancellor for a one-year term by the university’s Founder, Dr. Priyaranjan Trivedi, on the condition that he would furnish all academic credentials. However, he said Dr. Ngullie allegedly submitted a Ph.D. certificate issued by a registered society which was not recognized by the government.

Furthermore, Dr. Sharma accused Dr. Ngullie of “producing fake documents to cheat the university in purchasing his land and that he had released an advertisement in the newspaper” making allegations against the then governor Shyamal Datta.

He also claimed that the then Higher Education minister and NPF founder, Dr. Shürhozelie Liezietsu, had written to the Government of India suggesting that Dr. Ngullie was of unsound mind, urging authorities to disregard his communications.

Dr. Sharma alleged that after his retirement, Dr. Ngullie submitted misleading data to the Distance Education Council, falsely claiming that the university lacked infrastructure, faculty, and students. These documents, Dr. Sharma noted, were available with the State Government.

He also stated that Dr. Ngullie claimed to be the most qualified person and resisted the appointment of Dr. K.C. Murry, former Principal of Government College Wokha, to become the vice chancellor despite local support for Dr. Murry’s leadership.

Dr Sharma also alleged that Dr KC Murry was never allowed to perform his duties even as the OSD. Dr Sharma further said that when Dr Murry had asked Dr. Ngullie to return university property, he refused to do so and rather sent a note asking for some monetary cost.
