International University, WCSU hold career guidance

DIMAPUR: The International University, Nagaland, in collaboration with the Western Chakhesang Students’ Union (WCSU), organised a one day Career Guidance Programme at its campus at Sodzülhou & Kozabe Village, 7th Mile, Chümoukedima, on Tuesday.
The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, parents, WCSU members and faculty, reflecting a shared commitment to empowering youth through informed career planning, quality higher education and engagement with emerging opportunities.
Welcoming the gathering, Limala LKR, information executive of the University, introduced the objectives of the programme, while Yhevelü Tetseo, social & cultural secretary of WCSU, chaired the session. The inaugural prayer was offered by Lukuma Nuwiry, associate pastor, Chakhesang Baptist Church, Kozabe Village.
Delivering the keynote address, Dr. Roopam Bachhil, Registrar, International University, urged students to make informed academic choices based on aptitude, interests and emerging employment opportunities. She highlighted the advantages of pursuing quality education within Nagaland, citing affordability, proximity to family and a supportive learning environment.
WCSU president Arazo Nyekha appreciated the collaborative initiative and encouraged students to utilise career guidance programmes and mentoring opportunities. Prof. Zavise Rume, director of the University, delivered the Career Talk, stressing the importance of creativity, problem solving, communication and adaptability in the future job market, while highlighting opportunities in technology, healthcare, business, tourism, agriculture and entrepreneurship.
The second session featured a presentation by Dr. Durga Malakar, joint registrar, on skill based courses, career opportunities, admission procedures, scholarships and internships. The third session comprised open interaction between resource persons and participants, allowing students and parents to discuss career aspirations and higher education pathways.
In her concluding remarks, the chairperson expressed appreciation to the organisers, resource persons and participants for making the programme successful. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Nüyelü Nyekha, education & statistics secretary, WCSU, and a closing prayer by Keviyalie Rume, pastor, Chakhesang Baptist Church, Unity Village.
The programme reaffirmed the shared commitment of International University and Western Chakhesang Students’ Union to supporting students in making informed educational and career choices while promoting inclusive educational development and youth leadership across Nagaland.
