Investigation underway after viral video shows expired-date tampering

Staff Reporter

An investigation is underway after a video went viral on November 1, where a person was seen demonstrating how expired goods were being tampered to be resold. In the video, the person in his mid-30s, who may have been reportedly caught by some group, was seen using a hand-held digital printing device to tamper the details.

Police sources informed this reporter that they have taken cognizance of the matter and investigation was on to ascertain the video. Police said that the suspect involved in the racket was absconding.

When contacted, DMC administrator W. Manpai Phom said that the council has already assigned a team to verify the video, identify the culprit and other parties involved in the incident. After proper verification, he said the DMC would file an FIR and seek legal action, if found guilty.
