Tehran has strongly criticized the United States for imposing new sanctions, accusing it of using economic pressure to control independent nations like Iran and India. The Iranian Embassy in India called the sanctions “coercive and discriminatory,” arguing they violate international law and threaten global sovereignty.
The response came shortly after former US President Donald Trump announced a 25% tariff on India and penalties for importing Russian oil, effective August 1.
Iran’s Foreign Ministry condemned the sanctions targeting its oil sector, calling them “malicious” and harmful to its economic development. Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baqaei labeled the sanctions a “crime against humanity,” accusing Washington of abusing its power and disregarding global norms and human rights.
