DIMAPUR: Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Mokokchung District Branch extended relief assistance to families affected by the recent floods in Tuli town on August 12, 2026.
Led by secretary Dr. S.S. Akaba Longchar and members of the Managing Committee, the team distributed essential items to affected households. The relief drive was made possible with the support of Tongpang Ozukum, advisor for Water Resources, who initiated the request for relief materials from the IRCS Headquarters in Kohima. His timely intervention ensured that aid reached victims without delay.
Relief materials included 50 tarpaulins, 60 blankets, 40 hygiene kits and 20 kitchen sets. In addition, cash assistance of Rs. 5,000 and other contributions from well wishers were handed over to the affected families.
The distribution was carried out in the presence of the ADC, Dobashis, church leaders and members of the Tuli Town Relief Committee. Reports indicated that approximately 286 households were affected by the floods and are currently coping with the aftermath.
Meanwhile, the IRCS Mokokchung expressed gratitude to Tongpang Ozukum for his consistent support and concern for humanitarian work in the district.
