IRCS Mokokchung observes World Red Cross Day

DIMAPUR, MAY 8 (NPN): Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) Mokokchung District Branch celebrated International World Red Cross Day on May 8 at the Chief Medical Officer’s conference hall under the theme “United for Humanity.”
Chairman IRCS Mokokchung District Branch and Deputy Commissioner, Ajit Kumar Verma, in his address highlighted the significance of the day, marking the birth anniversary of Jean Henri Dunant, founder of the International Committee of the Red Cross and first recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize.
He stated that the theme encourages contribution, dedication, commitment and faith to humanity, stressing that even small initiatives can make a difference to human civilization. He added that humanitarian service is a collective movement that cannot be carried out alone.
Junior Red Cross members from Queen Mary Higher Secondary School and Mayangnokcha Government Higher Secondary School shared their experiences during the programme. Vote of thanks was delivered by Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Tiasunep, while the programme was chaired by IRCS life member Alemyanger.
Welcome address was delivered by Indian Red Cross Society honorary secretary, Dr. S.S. Akaba Longchar.
