Isak Swu’s son joins Ramsan-Absalom group

In a major development, Ikato Chishi Swu, son of NSCN (I-M) founding leader late Isak Chishi Swu, has announced his decision to join hands with ‘lt. gen.’ (Retd.) Hs. Ramsan and ‘lt. gen.’ Absalom Raman currently across the border in order to continue the Naga struggle.

In a strongly-worded statement received here by mail, Ikato slammed the current NSCN (I-M) leadership for having betrayed the Naga cause as reason for his decision to join the Ramsan-Absalom group.

Ikato recalled the formation of the NSCN in 1980 due to the Shillong Accord, the revival of the movement under his late father and Th. Muivah, the 1997 ceasefire then the historic Framework Agreement signed in 2015.

He has accused the Government of India (GoI) on backtracking post-the death of his father, diluting the agreement, and reducing political talks from the Prime Minister’s level to the Governor’s level.

Ikato alleged massive infiltration and manipulation by Indian intelligence agencies within NSCN ranks during the 28-year ceasefire. He also claimed that top leaders were compromised- some working as informants, others involved in syndicates and corrupt dealings by using the movement to enrich themselves.

He lamented that the revolutionary principles upheld by his late father have been eroded by greed and mismanagement. Ikato rued that justice, accountability, and ideology have collapsed within the current NSCN/GPRN structure. Ikato said that as an insider and second-generation revolutionary, he could no longer remain silent.

Ikato declared his intent to carry forward his father’s unfinished mission, calling upon right-thinking Nagas—especially youth—to rise and reclaim the national vision.
