An interactive outreach programme aimed at fostering tax awareness and promoting compliance, particularly focusing on e-Verification and Statement of Financial Transactions (SFT), was conducted on August 11 at Hotel Acacia, Dimapur.
The event was organized by the Directorate of Income Tax (Intelligence & Criminal Investigation), Guwahati, in collaboration with the Business Association of Nagas (BAN).
A press release by BAN executive director, Jason Sanglir informed that the primary objective of the programme was to empower taxpayers with a comprehensive understanding of the e-Verification Scheme, 2021, a critical aspect of tax compliance in the modern digital landscape. Addressing the gathering, director of Income Tax (I&CI), Guwahati, N. Jungio articulated the core principles and significance of the e-Verification Scheme, 2021, and also on the provisions of exemption u/s. 10(26) of the Income Tax Act, 1961.
He also emphasized the importance of prompt compliance with notices received from the Income Tax Department, elucidating both the potential consequences of non-compliance and the manifold benefits of timely Income Tax Return (ITR) filing.
The event was attended by members of the Business Association of Nagas (BAN), Dimapur Chamber of Commerce and Industries, along with Chartered Accountants and dedicated business leaders.
During the engaging and interactive session, participants sought clarifications on intricate tax-related matters.
