IT equipment distributed for Birth & Death registration in Tuensang

The first phase of the IT equipment distribution programme for Tuensang district was held at the District Economics & Statistics Office, Tuensang on April 14.
Speaking at the programme, secretary, Economics & Statistics and Chief Registrar of Births & Deaths, Nagaland, Akunu S Meyase underscored the importance of registration of births and deaths not only as proof of identity but also as vital data for population records, which the government relies on for developmental schemes.
She informed that in the first phase, 15 villages have been covered by providing IT equipment to the Registrars for enrolment of birth and death certificates at the village level. Highlighting the transition from manual to digital certification, she urged stakeholders to make effective use of the equipment for the benefit of the community.
Short speeches were also delivered by DC Tuensang, Lithrongla Tongpi Rutsa, and Director & Additional Chief Registrar of Births & Deaths, Nagaland, Neidilhou Keditsu. The programme was chaired by DESO & District Registrar of Births & Deaths, Tuensang, P. Sokum.
