He encouraged the students to make their own destiny by putting God first and challenged them to be producers to become self reliant.

Amento encouraged the students to not depend only on family and society but assume responsibility of their own life without fear of failure and to start small.

Pointing out that the area produced abundant food products, he challenged the students to consider taking up food processing to generate employment.

Asking them to come out of their comfort zones, Amento encouraged them to take up vocational courses along with their formal education.

Hekato Assumi, an entrepreneur, also shared from his experience about how he became self reliant. He also shared how he used food products available throughout the seasons of the year to remain self reliant and said he made “wealth from wastage”.

A press release from the union stated that Jacob Zhimomi, minister, PHED, who was the special guest of the program said that “today educated youths are the decision makers for the future, be it in spiritual or social life and they must be ready to work and remain humble.” He warned that most of today’s students depend on an overnight preparation which ultimately fails them in the long run.

The minister also lamented that the Nagas, in spite of progressing in the academic field face a stumbling block in the lack of opportunities for educated youth. Further, he encouraged the students saying that that achieving any high goal was the joint venture of parents, teachers and students – an effort which unifies them. Zhimomi also inaugurated the jubilee building prior to the program.

Stating that they were living in a community with enough educated unemployed youth, he encouraged them to make good use of education, and at the same time focus more on self employment and self sustenance, instead of remaining idle and seeking backdoor appointments or relying on lucrative government jobs.

Expressing his heartfelt gratitude to the student community for having him as special guest, Temjen Imna encouraged the students saying, “it is very important to maintain consistency in our pursuance for excellence and keeping focus on the set target and the goals in our lives”.

Earlier, the minister unveiled the Jubilee Stone, and a dedicatory prayer was pronounced by pastor, Longpayimsen Baptist Church.
