IVSU 36th session held in Ikiye village

Ikiye Village Students Union (IVSU) held its 36th session at Ikiye village on December 28, with former joint secretary Zunheboto Town Youth Organization (ZTYO) and former president of Kohima Law College Students Union (KLCSU), Vitoka Aye as chief guest. 
Aye while delivering his speech said that as per the department of Labour & Employment as on 2016 there were 70,422 educated unemployed youth in the life register of the department in Nagaland. Taking this as a serious concern, he urged the students to be sincere, disciplined in their academic career as student’s life determines their future. While urging the students to have patience, dedication and determination for a successful life, Aye also said that good academic performance was required for competitive examination. While stressing importance on clean election, Aye asked the students to live an exemplary life to bring change in the society.
He also stated that as per the post election studies conducted by Youth Net Nagaland an approximate amount of Rs. 937,82,67,500/- (Rupees nine hundred & sixty seven crores, eighty two lakhs, sixty seven thousand and five hundred) was spent in the 2013 election to buy votes and muscle power. He said that such huge expenditure was recovered from the public fund, resulting in rampant corruption with the least bit of development.
He appealed that change was the need of the hour and said it should be a collective responsibility starting from the church institution/association, village, community district and Nagas in general and uphold the true Christian principles. He also said that every citizen should exercise their vote in the true spirit of democracy because people’s vote determined the future and upcoming generation.
Highlighting on the impact of RTI Act 2005, Aye said that this act was one of the most powerful tools where everyone had the right to get information in every government establishment to access information as per the provision of the act. He said that RTI promote, transparency, empower its citizens, reduce corruption, increases efficiency to promote transparency and accountability.
Secretary BJP Nagaland state, Abel H Achumi also graced the occasion as guest of honour, wherein he urged the students not only to depend on government sector citing on a Bible verse of Jeremiah 29:11 to live with hope and disciplined life.
President Ikiye Village Students Union, Holivi Achumi delivered presidential address and advisor (IVSU), Khekato Zhimo exhorted the congregation. Youth associate pastor of Ikiye Baptist Church (IBC), Illito Yeptho invoked God’s blessing where as indigenous folk song was presented by cultural troupe, special number was performed by IVSU students, Hutoka Zhimo chaired the programme and Mughalu Chophy recorded the proceeding. The session concluded with benediction by IBC deacon, Shetoni Zhimomi.
