Incessant Welfare Society Nagaland (IWSN) conducted a Certification Ceremony of a Self-Employment Training on Cutting Tailoring and Fashion Designing, on Friday here at its training centre, in Purana Bazaar. IWSN is a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) that trains unemployed women, girls, school drop outs, and adolescent girls in skills and trades.
Addressing the gathering as the chief guest, state mission director NULM, State Urban Development Agency, S. Takatuba Aier opined that that by 2020, poverty would be eradicated in India and would be replaced by self employment. He maintained that the objective of employment through skills is to provide an asset to the urban poor in the form skills for sustainable livelihood, to increase the income of the urban poor through employment opportunities which would alleviate urban poverty.
Speaking at the ceremony as the special guest, DIGP CRPF Khatkhati range, Karbi Anglong Asaam, Darbara Singh addressed the trained students as “promising young girls who have reached milestones in their lives.” He pointed out that times had changed a lot due to increase of population and various other reasons, due to which unemployment in India has been increasing. He said that the main plea amongst the job seekers is that the jobs offered to them are not commiserating with their education profile. He stated that most job seekers were white collar job aspirants, who hardly think about other avenues in vocational and skill oriented self employment. “12 years of education would not be able to provide employment but 12 weeks of skill training can”, he asserted.
CRPF second in command, Kamal Sisodiya in her brief speech encouraged the gathering stating that one has to cross many barriers to be successful. She maintained that a strong woman stands for herself but a stronger woman stands for everyone.
IWSN administrator, Azungla Imsong in her welcome note reported that IWSN had trained 200 students in fashion and designing in the year 2016; 150 students trained in cutting tailoring and fashion designing in 2017; while in 2018 it trained 226 students in cutting tailoring, computer, fashion and designing and electricals.
