Stressing on the importance of technical subjects, PHED minister, Government of Nagaland, Jacob Zhimomi encouraged the students to opt and focus on technical subjects.
The minister was speaking at the Government High School (GHS) Khaghaboto golden jubilee celebration as the chief guest on Thursday, at its school premises.
The minister informed that the global ratings in the number of successful students were mostly from science and technical background and encouraged the students to focus and opt for technical subjects.
Zhimomi lamented on the shortage of Science and Maths teacher in the state and said that it was time to stress on the importance of the subjects. He also encouraged the teachers and parents to guide the students to choose the right subjects for their career while reminding that it should be a joint responsibility to build a better future for the upcoming generation.
On the celebration of golden jubilee, the minister congratulated the school for attaining a milestone, and praised the past and present head of the school and lauded the pioneers for their vision towards delivering education. He also hoped and wished that the management will continue to do their best and produce meritorious students in the field of science, technology and various other professions.
In regard to the shortage of facilities and infrastructures, the minister encouraged the management to look into the basic requirements of the school such as water facilities, drinking water, washrooms etc. making it as the first and foremost duty, so that he will also be able to extend his help to upgrade the infrastructures of the school.
Brief history of the school was delivered by faculty staff H Akaito Sema, who informed that that GHS Khaghaboto located at centre of 17 surrounding villages is the only high school in the area till date. The management is headed by assistant headmistress along with 16 teaching staffs and seven non-teaching staffs. The students’ enrolment for the year 2023, from class 6 to 10, comprises of 111 students.
Jubilee greetings were shared by KAGBs association president and KASU president. Highlights of the programme include inaugural prayer by KTBC pastor Bokaho Assumi and unveiling of the monolith by the chief guest.
The programme was chaired by Rachel T Shohe, invocation prayer was offered by KTBC youth pastor Kiviholi Awomi, welcome address was delivered by assistant head mistress Vitheli Kiba and song “Heaven’s jubilee” was presented by jubilee choir. Later, vote of thanks was delivered by Tokato P Awomi and benediction was said by Hevishe Baptist Church, women pastor, Kiyeshe.
