Jacob inaugurates ‘Aqo Ki’ multi purpose building at Niuland

Staff Reporter – DIMAPUR, MAY 8 (NPN): Minister of PHED, Jacob Zhimomi inaugurated the newly constructed Aqo Ki (Multi Purpose Building) at Niuland district on Friday after a dedicatory prayer by SBAN pastor Kughavi V. Zhimo.
The building was initiated by Niuland Area Citizen Forum (NACF) along with four other organisations—Niuland Area Sport Association (NASA), Niuland Area GB Association, Niuland Area Students’ Union (NASU) and Niuland Area Sumi Totimi Loka (NSATL).
Gracing the inaugural programme as special guest, Jacob lauded the collective efforts of the people and organisations of Niuland Area in successfully bringing the structure to completion. He stated that the building comes to life through cooperation, contributions, prayers, and unwavering support of like minded citizens and frontal organisations. He remarked that the multipurpose facility will provide a common platform for the people to address issues and voice matters concerning shared interests of society.
Expressing optimism, the minister said that the building should serve as a centre of purpose and direction, strengthening public engagement and enhancing discourse for the welfare of all sections. He conveyed best wishes to the people of Niuland and hoped the facility fosters unity, cooperation, and community development.
Highlighting prospects of Niuland district, Jacob noted that as a newly recognised district, many programmes and developmental initiatives are in the pipeline. He appealed to the residents, civil societies, and organisations to extend cooperation and work together in unity for progress. He also stressed the importance of the ongoing census exercise, urging public participation for accurate data essential in planning government schemes, infrastructure, and welfare benefits.
Addressing youth, Jacob encouraged humility, discipline, and hard work. He advised them to not depend on parental income or status but to strive for sustainability through dedication and self reliance.
Convenor of the Construction Committee, Bohoto Aye, highlighted the journey behind the project, informing that construction began in 2023. The two storey building houses six rooms on the ground floor and a conference hall with seating capacity of 200 on the first floor. He said that office rooms are designated for the five organisations, while the hall will be available at a nominal rate, with revenue handed to the student union for maintenance.
The programme was chaired by NACF president Kakishe Shikhu, invocation by Hokuto Village B.A. pastor Tokiho, welcome address by NTKK president Katoho Holo, special number by NASTL, and benediction by Kiyezu ‘B’ B.A. pastor I. Inato Sumi.
