
Parliamentary secretary for Irrigation & Flood Control, N Jacob Zhimomi inaugurated the “agri seed farm minor irrigation project (ASFMIP)” at state seed farm, Merapani, Wokha, on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion as the chief guest, Jacob Zhimomi, encouraged the two departments to work together stressing on the importance of convergence programme. He also exhorted the farmers and public leaders to adopt certified seeds of the farm for increased food crop production. The programme was chaired by IFCD chief engineer, Er. Njilo Kemp and the technical report was presented by superintending engineer Er. Kughaho Sema, wherein he stated that the project was completed at a cost of Rs.449.995 lakh funded under AIBP to irrigate a cultivable command area of 300 ha.
Agriculture director Dziesetuo Suokhrie, gave a short speech where he thanked the department of Irrigation & Flood Control for the project and stated that it would give assured irrigation and also help the state seed farm in the production of certified seeds.
MoU was signed between the IFCD and agriculture department and the project was handed over to the agriculture department for their use and maintenance henceforth.
The programme ended with vote of thanks by executive engineer IFCD, Er. Hutoi Sema. The programme was attended by Merapani ADC, agri additional director, Merapani village council members and officers of IFCD.
