The newly constructed Circular Road (2.5 km) connecting Diphupar B and Chekiye village via Agri Expo was inaugurated by minister of PHED, Jacob Zhimomi on Monday after a dedicatory prayer by Chekiye Baptist Church pastor Rev. Dr Toniho Kiho.
An inaugural programme was organized by Chekiye Village Council (CVC) which was dedicated by Chekiye Baptist Church pastor reverend Dr Toniho Kiho.
Jacob in his speech, acknowledged CVC and residents for their unflinching support and cooperation mentioning that “the road will serve as a crucial link for the citizens while also providing a much-needed impetus to the local economy”.
Highlighting the growing culture of “excessive competition and greed” in the society, Jacob said “everything has become a competition,” and lamented how such kind of mindset has “seeped into areas involving public resources and responsibilities”.
“We have become greedy to take extra of the budget of everything,” Jacob said and emphasized the need for restraint and integrity, encouraging everyone to operate within their limits.
Jacob further said development and progress should not come at the cost of “honesty and fairness” and advocated transparency and responsible governance.
Short speeches were delivered by T Kiheto Sema, IAS retired block-6 and V Hotoi Aye, block -5, and vote of thanks by CVC vice chairman Hukiye Yepthomi and benediction by Chekiye village Baptist Church women pastor, Dr. Kanili Sema.
