DIMAPUR: Minister for PHED & Cooperation, Jacob Zhimomi, unveiled the plaque upgrading PM SHRI Government Middle School, Pihekhu to PM SHRI Government High School, Pihekhu at Aghunaqa Area, Niuland, on June 5.
According to DIPR report, addressing the gathering as special guest, Jacob said the purpose of establishing PM SHRI Schools nationwide was to make India a global educational hub. He urged public leaders and department officials to make the best use of the opportunity to strengthen educational institutions in the area.
Highlighting the role of parents, he stressed that the greatest gift to children was imparting real education, and encouraged GBs and public leaders to send their children to government schools, asserting that the best qualified teachers serve in these institutions. He also discouraged issuing No Objection Certificates (NOCs) for teachers seeking transfers to urban postings, urging School Management Committees (SMCs) and leaders to retain teachers in rural schools.
Earlier, Sr. SDEO (DEO Charge) Niuland, Kitoshi Z. Swu, thanked the minister and the Education Department for their support in upgrading the school, terming it a significant step in strengthening education opportunities in Aghunaqa Area. She urged teachers to continue guiding students with dedication.
The programme featured a special song by students of PM SHRI GHS Pihekhu. Akukatou Pihekhu Village, Ghoito Awomi, delivered the welcome note, while Hukato Zhimomi chaired the event.
