Jacob inspects damaged road in Niuland

DIMAPUR: Minister of PHED and Cooperation, Jacob Zhimomi, on Friday inspected the stretch of road between Zhekishe village and Vikheto village under EAC Aghunaqa Circle, Niuland district, a major portion of which has been washed away by incessant rain.
Accompanied by DC Niuland, district administration officials, CSOs and frontal organisations, Jacob heard grievances of the affected villages and assured to take up the matter with the concerned authorities at the earliest.
It may be noted that the particular stretch of road serves as a lifeline for about 18 villages and also connects to neighbouring Assam. The damage has severely disrupted public commute, transportation of goods and affected school going children. The Aghunaqa Kukami Kuqhakulu appealed to the Chief Minister through the Minister to initiate repair works urgently to prevent any major tragedy, while pointing out that economic activities have also been hampered.
Jacob later visited the Border Rest House at Aghunaqa HQ where the 12 IR has been stationed. He interacted with the jawans and encouraged them to maintain discipline and remain alert at all times, stressing that law and order and public security must not be compromised under any circumstances.
