Parliamentary secretary for Irrigation and Flood Control, Jacob Zhimomi on Monday called upon the citizens to use the money judiciously.
Addressing the gathering, during the unveiling of foundation stone for Chumukedima Lotha community, at ward No. 9, Chumukedima here as chief guest, parliamentary secretary, Jacob Zhimomi lamented that government had no fund and somehow the government had been trying to manage to pay the salary because of the planning financial structure, new financial structure prepared for the country was still under process, since the old has been dissolved which was started in 1951, by the then Prime Minister of India Pandit Nehru. He maintained that a new financial structure called the NITI Aayog, has been adopted to study financial requirement of the country, and so Nagaland was no exception in the eyes of the Indian union though it has special status, yet it is within the constitution of India. Therefore, all department of the state, to some extend have been constrained because of the non availability of the fund despite accepting funds from the central government, he added.
Zhimomi briefed about the LADP fund to the gathering to ensure that they know and understood what the government was doing with the LADF money and how it was being distributed.
Stressing on developmental issue, Zhimomi mentioned that the new process was going to be very transparent and accountable. He said that even after money was sanctioned it needed to be used judiciously, whether it was for the union or even for personal private level as it was not free money.
He requested the gathering not to “follow money” during the time of election, as according to him it hampered the developmental process, making it difficult for the elected members to check up developmental issues.
He reminded the gathering that if they wanted development they should not bargain in the use of money at the time of election, but to use the franchise honestly and not to sell their vote. He thereby propagated for clean election.
He also made it clear that Naga People’s Front (NPF) President, Dr Shürhozelie Liezietsu and Chief Minister of Nagaland TR Zeliang were also concerned as far as developmental issue was concerned.
He further expressed gratitude to NPF President, Dr Shürhozelie Liezietsu and Chief Minister of Nagaland TR Zeliang for helping him to cater the needs of Dimapur district and for giving him the privilege to take in-charge of Dimapur District Development Board.
Short speech was also delivered by Lotha Union Chumukedima (LUC), chairman Chipo Kikon.
Earlier the programme was chaired by Lotha Youth Organization (LYO), Chumukedima Chonben Yanthan and vote of thanks was delivered by LUC advisor Eshenthung Ezung (IAS).
Altogether LUC, LYO, Lotha student’s Union Chumukedima (LSUC), Eloe Ekhung Chumukedima (EEC) members and Extra Assistant Commissioner (EAC) Chumukedima Thungbemo Patton attended the programme.
